While the third-party committee deemed the allegations “highly likely,” his willingness to apologize reflects sincerity. So why does U, whose victim’s testimony is deemed “extremely credible” and who created the situation in a closed room, offer no explanation or apology? The report clearly recognizes sexual harassment, and there are no materials to deny this. Why is it that Ishibashi was able to apologize while U cannot? Is remaining silent under the pretext of being on hiatus truly the attitude one would expect from someone referred to as a “big name”? Recently, I was discussing the situation with Ishibashi Takaaki and the prominent talent U with a friend. It was puzzling why U continues to remain silent despite Ishibashi having apologized. Especially since sexual harassment has been recognized in the report, U’s silence certainly attracts attention.
The Sincerity of Ishibashi and the Silence of U
I was honestly impressed by Ishibashi’s decision to apologize even while unwell. His willingness to acknowledge his past actions is important. In contrast, U says nothing. We have no idea how those around him think or how he feels himself. I can’t help but think this silence might just be an escape. Perhaps there is deference from those around him, preventing him from speaking out. However, given that personal integrity is now in question, I hope he takes some action.
My Personal Experience and Feelings
Actually, when I was younger, I had the opportunity to talk with a celebrity at an event. I remember being very moved by how he valued the distance with his fans. It made me realize how important sincerity is. Compared to that, U’s current attitude feels a bit disappointing. Moreover, for us to enjoy laughter, I believe that talents should also reflect on their actions with sincerity. There should be no elements that harm others within humor.
