Reader’s Question:
I have a question about the anime Code Geass. I’ve watched up to episode 18 of R2, but I’m feeling a bit confused and can’t move forward, so I wanted to ask. If possible, please avoid spoilers. In R2, the student council members, including Lelouch, had their memories erased
regarding Nunnally and had their memories altered concerning Rolo due to Charles’s Geass. I’m curious about the activation conditions of Charles’s Geass. In the anime, when Suzaku handed Lelouch (Zero) over to Charles, it seemed like the Geass was activated when Charles made eye contact with Lelouch. However, the other student council members haven’t directly met Charles, right? (They might have been taken by him, or he could have gone to see them directly, but still…) This makes me wonder if the activation conditions of Charles’s Geass are quite lenient, allowing it to work on targets that are far away. In episode 16 or 17, when Charles and Lelouch meet, it appears that the activation condition is “making eye contact,” which adds to my confusion. If this gets explained after episode 18, feel free to tell me to just keep watching. Thank you!
Code Geass Confusion: Let’s Dive In!
Hey there! So, I totally get where you’re coming from with your confusion about Code Geass, especially in R2. It’s such a twisty-turny ride, and things can get pretty wild. I remember when I first watched it—there were moments I found myself scratching my head and wondering if I missed an episode or two! One thing that stood out to me was the whole Geass activation thing, especially Charles’s power. It seems like there are a lot of layers to it, right? You mentioned the eye contact aspect, which is crucial for activating his Geass. It’s like this intense game of “who can stare the longest” but with the stakes being memory manipulation! When Charles meets Lelouch, it’s that intense moment of eye contact that really drives home the power of his Geass. But then you think about the other student council members, and you’re left wondering how they got caught in the crossfire without meeting him directly. It’s almost like a plot twist waiting to unravel. I remember binge-watching those episodes and feeling that same confusion. It was like eating too many snacks—delicious at first, but then I felt a bit queasy with all the twists! It’s also interesting how the series plays with the concept of time. By the start of R2, there’s this suggestion that some time has passed since the events of the first season. I guess they wanted to keep the pacing tight and not get bogged down in details, which is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it keeps things moving, but on the other, it leaves us fans piecing things together like a puzzle! I think the beauty of Code Geass lies in its complexity and the way it challenges us to think critically about the characters and their motivations. It’s like a comedy routine where the punchline is hidden in the setup, and you have to pay attention to catch it. So, my advice? Keep watching! I promise things get even more intense and fascinating as the story unfolds. Those “aha!” moments are just around the corner. Plus, it’s always fun to see how other fans interpret those twists. I’d love to hear about your own experiences watching Code Geass or any other anime that left you feeling puzzled but excited! What are some of your favorite moments so far? Let’s chat about it!
