Question from Readers:
How many single celebrities are there?
Thoughts on Single Celebrities
Recently, I’ve been curious about the topic of single celebrities. While having tea with friends at a café, we got into a lively discussion about how many single celebrities there really are. I remember being a bit surprised to learn that people like Koji Imada and Atsuhiro Sato,
formerly of Hikaru Genji, are single. At 59 and 51 years old, being single is generally considered uncommon, but when you think about their careers and lifestyles, it makes sense.
Diversity of Single Life
When it comes to single celebrities, current members of groups like AKB and Morning Musume certainly fit the bill. Given their busy schedules and relationships with fans, it might be challenging for them to find time for romance. Young actors who started as child stars also seem to be predominantly single, likely because they are still in the process of building their lives and have many options ahead of them. Moreover, there are individuals like Takaaki Ishibashi and Naoki Tanaka who have embraced single life after divorce. Regardless of their life choices or family situations, I believe there are valid reasons for remaining single. Sometimes, it’s a decision driven by the desire for freedom or the importance of personal time.
The Allure and Challenges of Being Single
While single life may seem free and fun at first glance, it can also come with feelings of loneliness and societal pressure. As friends marry one after another, the scrutiny of being single can be disconcerting. Personally, while working at a judicial scrivener’s office, I often get asked by colleagues, “Aren’t you married yet?” Such moments can leave me feeling a bit embarrassed. On the flip side, having time to read my favorite books or watch movies is a privilege of single living. The freedom to spend time as I please is invaluable. There are many upsides to being single. Occasionally, I indulge myself and eat a lot of snacks, which is just one of the small pleasures in life.
