Understanding Sexual Violence: The Controversy Surrounding Masahiro Nakai and Its Broader Implications

Question from a Reader:
Is it true that Masahiro Nakai committed sexual violence?

Reflecting on the Definition of Sexual Violence

Recently, when I went out for drinks with friends, the topic of sexual violence came up, and I was quite surprised. Everyone was discussing their thoughts on the rumors surrounding Masahiro Nakai, and it made me ponder what exactly “sexual violence”
really means. One of my friends mentioned, “Actually, sexual violence has a really broad definition,” and referenced the WHO’s definition from 2002. Listening to him, the conversation started to feel quite complex, and I found myself snacking a bit too much. I thought, “Oh no, I might gain weight again…” but still couldn’t resist reaching for the potato chips.

The Awkward Atmosphere at the Drinking Party

This reminded me of something that happened during our gathering. While everyone was having a great time chatting, someone suddenly asked, “Could inviting someone to this drinking party, under certain circumstances, be considered sexual violence?” There was a brief moment of silence, followed by uproarious laughter. It was a strange atmosphere, where everyone was both troubled by the thought yet found it funny. However, when I think about it, the issue of sexual violence is truly serious and cannot be taken lightly. Personally, since becoming a father, my perspective towards children has changed. I often find myself pondering late at night about how to teach my children about this issue when they grow up.

I’d Love to Hear Your Thoughts!

I would really like to know what everyone thinks about this issue. If you have experiences, opinions, or any funny anecdotes with friends, please share them in the comments! I would be happy to think through this together.
