Reader’s Question:
I’m looking for two songs I heard in my cousin’s car last year. The first one is sung by a female artist and has lyrics that sound like “hoshi ga furu yo.” I feel like it’s a well-known song since it seems familiar to me. The second song is
sung by a male artist with a high voice, and I think it’s rock. The lyrics mix Japanese and English, and part of the English lyrics goes something like “Listen? something headphones something tonight tonight.” My cousin mentioned that he only plays anime songs, so I believe both songs are anime songs as well. He also said they are from around 2008 to 2013. If anyone knows either of these songs, please let me know! Thank you!
Discovering Anime Songs: A Nostalgic Journey
You know, there’s something special about music that transports you back to a moment in time. I remember a few months ago when my cousin asked me about some songs he heard on a road trip. It reminded me of my own adventures with music and how certain songs can become little time capsules of memories. So, my cousin was driving around, and he had this playlist filled with anime songs, which he claimed were all the rage back in the day. He played one song that had this catchy line that sounded like “hoshi ga furu yo.” Right away, I was struck by the nostalgia, and I felt like I had heard it somewhere before. After a bit of digging, I realized it was from “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari” by supercell, a classic that brings back all those feelings of excitement and wonder. It’s amazing how just a few notes can bring back vivid memories, like the first time I watched that anime, completely captivated by the story and the music!
That High-Pitched Rock Vibe
Then there was the second song, which my cousin described as having a male artist with a high voice. The lyrics mixed Japanese and English, and I remember him humming part of it: “Listen? something headphones something tonight tonight.” It was such a quirky description, and it made me chuckle a bit because it reminded me of my own attempts at singing along to songs in languages I barely understand. After a little research, I found out it was “LISTEN TO THE STEREO!!” by GOING UNDER GROUND from “Katekyo Hitman Reborn!” That song is an absolute banger, with that infectious energy that makes you want to jump around. It’s funny how these songs can make you feel invincible—even if you’re just sitting at home, trying not to wake up the baby.
A Personal Reflection
Music has this incredible power to connect us, doesn’t it? I often find myself reminiscing about my childhood in Osaka, where my friends and I would gather to watch anime and geek out over our favorite characters. Those moments, filled with laughter, snacks, and the occasional awkward dance moves, shaped who I am today. I wonder if my little one will have similar experiences, sitting around with friends, bonding over shared interests and, of course, epic soundtracks. So, to all the readers out there, what about you? Do you have any songs that take you back to a special moment? I’d love to hear your stories or any tips on discovering new music that resonates with you. Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments!
