Question from a Reader:
While Morizo is cute, I find Myakumyaku a bit unsettling. Is the Expo really serious about this?
Impressions of Myakumyaku and the Future of the Expo
Recently, there have been various opinions flying around about Myakumyaku. Honestly, when I first saw it, I thought, “What is this?” It’s completely different from cute characters like Morizo and Kikkoro,
giving off a rather unique vibe. I wonder if people in Osaka really like this character? Personally, I felt a bit confused.
The Difference from Morizo
With Morizo, the more you see it, the more affection you develop. In fact, my friends have been saying, “Moriza is cute!” and seeing children enjoy it warms my heart. But with Myakumyaku, it somewhat reminds me of a monster from Ultraman, which makes me worry about how children might react if they find it scary.
Design of the Automobile License Plate
Speaking of which, the design of the Osaka Expo commemorative automobile license plate, which indeed looks like blood is splattering, is a subject of mixed opinions. The moment I saw it, I thought, “What’s the intent behind this design?” I can’t help but wonder if the designer could have made it a bit cuter.
Expectations for the Future of the Expo
Once the Expo starts, I’m really looking forward to seeing how popular Myakumyaku becomes. It might surpass Morizo and Kikkoro as a beloved character, and I’m curious to see how children will react at the events. I’m thinking of taking my family to experience it together. Perhaps seeing it for the first time will reveal new charms. What do you all think? I’d love to hear your impressions of Myakumyaku and your expectations for the Expo in the comments! It would be great to share our thoughts.
