Recently, I had a conversation with friends about Japanese stars, and names like the late Toshiro Mifune, Kyoshi Horiguchi, and Ken Watanabe came up. Particularly, Toshiro Mifune represents the golden age of Japanese cinema, and his presence is still cherished by many today. The films he starred in
have been highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally, and his influence is immeasurable.
The Influence of Anime
Additionally, anime characters have also become globally recognized figures. For instance, “Tanjirou Kamado” is the protagonist of “Demon Slayer,” and I was surprised to hear that the recent movie surpassed “Harry Potter” at the box office. Tanjirou’s strength and kindness resonate with many, and his companions are equally captivating. Especially, many can probably relate to the admiration for “Shinobu Kocho.”
The Popularity of Shohei Ohtani
I also want to touch on Shohei Ohtani. It’s undeniable that baseball holds a special place for the Japanese, but how popular is it on a global scale? I agree with some of my friends’ opinions that the acceptance of Japanese players in Major League Baseball in the U.S. may be due to its approach to the Asian market. The countries where baseball thrives are limited, and in Europe, people sometimes say, “Baseball? Oh, like cricket, right?” which made me chuckle.
Personal Memories
As we discuss various stars, I find myself reminiscing about my own memories. The times spent with friends late at night watching anime or discussing movies in college were truly enjoyable.
